Brian Slusser is a USSF "A" licensed coach with over 17 years of coaching experience and a 30-year playing career that includes four club state championships, a high school state championship, and two years as a professional with the 1990 USISL champions, the New Mexico Chilies.

With a B.S. in Exercise Physiology and an M.S. in Sports Administration from the University of New Mexico, his academic background includes a strong emphasis on sport psychology and motor development. His coaching career spans multiple levels, from high school to club and professional environments.

Brian has an extensive history in youth development, having spent 12 years coaching for various soccer clubs in Reno, including Players North Soccer Club, MVLA Reno, and APEX Soccer Club. During this time, he coached multiple teams and specialized in goalkeeper training, shooting and finishing training across all age groups.

His coaching accomplishments include:

  • La Cueva High School Boys Soccer Head Coach (1994): Led the freshman team to a second-place finish in the Junior Varsity Championships.
  • Manzano High School Boys Soccer Coach (1999-2005): Led the team to a district and state championship in 1999, achieving a national ranking of 24th by USA Today and NSCAA polls. The team was also awarded the NSCAA Academic Award for team GPA.
  • Admiral Elite FC (2005): Coached the U12 boys team to a second-place finish in the New Mexico State Championships.
  • Nominated for NMYSA (New Mexico Youth Soccer Association) Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2006.

In addition to serving as the Director of Coaching at MVLA - Nevada Soccer Club, Brian also runs his own business as a personal trainer and massage therapist, applying his expertise in sports performance, injury prevention, and recovery.

His dedication to player development, tactical training, and holistic athlete growth makes him an invaluable leader at MVLA - Nevada.
